Polymerization




Most polymerization processes aim to produce high-molecular-weight materials with specific structures.
These polymerization processes are usually exothermic reactions, and the resulting polymers have very high viscosity.
Traditional polymer production processes require a large amount of excess solvents and/or monomers to absorb the heat released during the reaction and dilute the polymers to a low-viscosity state for easier processing.However, our company's kneading reactor can handle high-viscosity materials and can efficiently add or remove a large amount of heat,therefore it is an ideal alternative to the traditional process.
A typical process using these kneading reactors consists of two stages:
■ In the first stage, the main mixing reactor undergoes a polymerization reaction of the monomers and catalyst under high concentration and solvent-free conditions. The conversion rate can easily reach 90% to 99%.
■ In the second stage, the polymer is directly volatilized in the polymer stirring reactor, and the residual monomer content is reduced to 1000 ppm or lower.The unique geometry of the mixing elements enables continuous surface renewal, which optimizes heat transfer while minimizing product accumulation and dead zones.
